I believe that throughout these years I have improved on my public speaking skills. I have become more confident as a person and I no more am shy to interact with anyone.
I am more approachable now and these positive changes have made me a better person than before. It has made me want to work harder and learn new things and reach high. My communication skills have improved and I am a more confident person now.
Little interactions with the members of the industry throughout the year be it Eileen Bygrave from Ferragamo, My friends aunt who was one of the founding members of the Guardian Pharmacy in Singapore and with our lecturers in college has made me realize so much about my potential and has motivated me to do better.
I want to make my parents proud and eventually be able to earn a certain sum of money which is sufficient enough to finance myself.
Coming from a typical Indian joint family, my ancestors are from Rajasthan, my parents still hold conservative thoughts, for them to be able to let me venture into the Fashion industry was a huge step and I do not want their dreams and beliefs to shatter.
Having been in Singapore for three years now, I have learnt a lot from my experience, a lot may be an understatement. My internship has taught me so much and I really look up to my boss’s for welcoming me with open arms into their world. I have interacted with all kinds of people throughout this year which has made me work on my personality for the better. I have realized you cant let people take you for granted and you have to make discuss for yourself at some point, being indecisive sometimes makes you the rabbit of the race. Patience and hard work is the key to success. If you do your work religiously and with passion by giving your 100%, you will bear the fruits of your labor.
I am thankful to my peers who have made me do better and try and up my game. Who have always given me positive suggestions regarding my work. Teamwork is also one of the core elements to being successful, which I can say with full confidence that I have improved on. I have learnt to listen to people’s suggestions and just observe.
One of the skills I had to work on was clarity of my speech which I still try to fix, here and there. I am bidding goodbye to Singapore on a very happy note by taking with me some great relationships with friends & lecturers, bittersweet memories, happy times and education who has made me the person I am today.
Even though my journey has been tough, I wouldn't have it any other way. Raffles has made me realize my future goals, until a year ago I wasn’t even sure about my future career. When I come to think about it, these little assignments are stepping stones for all our accomplishments lined up for the future. I am glad to have chosen Fashion styling as my future career since I would love to add happiness to peoples lives. The feeling an individual gets upon wearing clothes that suit their personality adds a lot of confidence, which is the core and the rest all follows. Au Revoir Singapore, you will be missed.
