Upon my recent visit to the Yayoi Kasuma Exhibit at the National Gallery, I was taken aback by the visuals created by the very talent lady. Her idea of the Infinity Mirrored Room which was first created in 1965, takes viewers into another ride of joy and excitement. Her infinity rooms are an experience on its own and they replicate all of her paintings into an almost reality experience. Kusama has had a hard struggle and during her early days she dealt with depression. She has even written as song on that and a video installation of her singing was present at the exhibit. During my reads at the exhibit I found out, her artwork was a cause of sensation in the Big Apple. The pumpkin installations are one of her most appreciated artworks. Louis Vuitton was the first brand to discover the artist and collaborate with her for one of their collections. She has many repeated images and forms in her designs. The Polka Dotted Tulip room installation is exhibited in a room and is imagined for the viewers to see the world thrgouh as screen of dots, it reflects the past hallucinations of the artist which she experienced during her childhood. According to her "LIFE IS THE HEART OF A RAINBOW" and this is what I want the viewers to experience upon viewing the collage I designed from getting inspired by the exhibit. The exhibit was a great way of viewing the world from another persons eyes and changed perspectives about life in general. How color can add on so much life into a soul is unbelievable. Just by picking up a shape and laying them out in a visually appealing manner can turn someones life over. Don't let any kind of physical or emotional distress stop you from following your dreams is what I gathered from the experience.
