The Boutique Society Talk was held at Raffles College of Higher Education a few weeks ago. The talk consisted of several speakers, all from different educational backgrounds.

The first speaker spoke about her experience while making jewelry and providing employment to the women of Philippines. Kristin Mariella is a creative jewelry designers from Iceland who works with an organization called FOCOLARE who employ mothers in need. She creates bold statement jewelry which evokes the consumers personal style. I spotted the founder of WedgeAsia wearing one of her pieces during our exhibition. She took great pride in what she did and explained her job with immense passion.

The second speaker spoke about her contribution to the society and all her social endeavors. The Change School founded by Solonia Tenders encourages people to set the right targets for them and helps build their personality. It focuses on personal development and transformational learning for a person. There are short programs offered by the firm for people to get a better understanding of their life paths and build their confidence in regards with emotional intelligence.

The talks was held to inspire students like us to incline ourselves into such awareness programs and dwell into social service at a young age. Only by enlightening the minds of the youth will the forthcoming generations move forward and practice their duties as a human.

The third speaker named Gavin Choo was the Growth Hacker and Managing Partner at Disruptive Digital based in Singapore. The company helps business to prosper by giving them ideas about their digital marketing campaigns. He enlightened us about the importance of digital marketing in this time and day. Today everything happens online and have a presence on a social media platform has become more than a want but a need.

According to the speaker the brands should keep evolving and try experimenting with new trends entering the market keeping in mind the brands reputation. Also, the most important aspect of a brands image and their identity is their logo and website. Brands should be able to gauge their consumers needs / wants and provide them with services accordingly. Mobile marketing and email marketing are important factors for brands to consider.

Each speaker had something insightful and important to share which made me realize that there is so much more in this world that I still have to learn and imbibe. How important it is to take risks, collaborate with youngsters and help the society in any manner we can, especially once we are successful.
