Ridhi Mehra '17

I got an opportunity to assist the famous designer Ridhi Mehra during her visit to Dubai for an exhibition. It was a great learning experience and interacting with someone whose work I look up to in my industry was very overwhelming.

I assisted with the display for the exhibit and styled the mannequins, interacted with consumers and helped with the sales. My interaction with the designer was quite minimal and I was informed about many facts relating to the Indian fashion industry.

I learnt how to juggle sales amongst the consumers and sell your brand. The designer was not very keen to knowing her consumers needs but instead wanted to make as many sales as she could. I was not happy with her working environment and would not want to work with her in the future. Her attitude towards us volunteers was not very professional and she refrained from answering any of our questions. Such experiences in our lives make us realize that no matter how high you reach in your career its all about you roots and your upbringing which at the end does reflect your working space.
