Fig 19 (Design Trends, 2016)
MEMPHIS marked its debut in 1981, it was a Milan-based sensation of upcoming product designers and their artworks of which was led by the veteran Ettore Sottsass (Busche, 2016).
The movement was greatly loved by all. When I first came across the concept, I was intrigued. Though my wardrobe is filled with black, I am a person who enjoys colors. Memphis was the apt concept for me to be inspired by and create a trend board (left). The shapes and figures used in the phenomena is bizarre in a positive manner. The concept reminds you of words like rebellious, daring, conceptualized and interactive. Designers like Edeline Lee, and Christian Dior were highly inspired by the concept and chose to come up with runway collections based on it.
