Blast from the Past - Fashion Decades

During the first few months of our course we were required to create a presentation about the 1990’s and the fashion style in that era. Lucky for me I had studied History of costume in my first year during diploma, I had a sense of what I was presenting.

Keeping in mind my future goal, it is ideal form me to be aware of what were worn by people in the past and how trends can be turned and twisted in the current world. What we very famously called ‘retro’, comes by being aware of the past fashion culture. Observing the past, I got inspired and tried my hand at making a mood board which painted clearer picture for me. It was nice to dig into the past and be aware of what some great fashion influencers wore and how todays generation is highly inspired by them, which includes me. All the ruffle pants, the off shoulder & cold shoulder tops, the high hemlines, the midi skirt and the costume jewelry which are so famous in todays day have been taken very intricately by fashion designers, from the past.
