Global Experience

New semester brought along a new module for all of us to work on. Global Experience is a module by Coventry University where students are taken to a new destination across the globe which benefits them in some or the other way in regards with their future career. After a few weeks of discussion and shortlisting of places, our class and lecturers came up with a combined decision to go to Tokyo, Japan.

Personally I am very excited to visit Japan, have heard a lot about the country but never got a chance to visit. My father has been there a couple of times for business and shared many stories. My main objective for choosing Japan was because of its Fashion history and culture. Fashion is a huge industry and apart from the ‘Big Four’ there are a few more fashion centers in the world., one of which includes Japan’s Fashion Capital, Tokyo. I believe traveling is the most public activity which a person performs and interacts with people from across the globe. Going to Tokyo has added onto my learning experiences and during the course of my trip is when I met new people, tried activities out of my comfort zone and made my old bonds stronger. Interacting with different people, taking in new cultures and learning new languages enriches our thoughts and opens up mindsets, I was taken aback upon knowing how people in Japan greet everyone differently and there are degrees of bowing which are practiced. I was most excited to try the food which includes sushi and the Hokkaido Cheese. Three of the core skills which added onto my personal development during the course of the trip are team work, confidence and Independent living. I have learned to be more accommodating and open to hearing people’s opinions and suggestions about me. I hope to use these qualities in my future career, positively and prosper in all my endeavors.
