The Singapore Design Week held in the month of March is an exciting and interactive event. It’s a great platform for the public to interact with designers and people working in the world of art and fashion. Many members of the design society come together to give talks and hold fashion shows for the members of the public. I attended the Design Trails, which started from the National Design Centre Singapore and assisted the other volunteers there. All throughout the day we had many people who attend the trail and registered with us upon arrival. There were buses arriving at the basecamp every half an hour and went ahead to six locations. One of the locations I went to was Journey@east at Tan Boot Liat building where I attended the talk by an upcoming interior designer from Australia.
Below are the pictures of some of her works and many more designers. Her style is very contemporary and she discussed with us how she started off and made her passion into a full-fledged career. I had volunteered for Singapore Design Week in the past as a backstage coordinator for a fashion show and this experience was slightly different. I did interact with new people and made some new friends. I helped at the registration counter and the organizers give out flyers across the location. The interior designer we met spoke to us about how social media helped her business grow. She has many contacts in Singapore and has done a lot of work with designing houses, office spaces and shopping stores. It was a good experience working with the design professionals of Singapore and attending talks, the exposure was great but this year the Design week was less crowded than last few years.
